Youth Guarantee and Developing the Young Workforce

What is the DG Youth Guarantee?

The DG Youth Guarantee is an extension of the Scottish Government’s commitment that every single 16-19 year old in Scotland will be offered a place in appropriate learning or training if they are not already in a job, Modern Apprenticeship or in education. In Dumfries and Galloway, this has been extended to people up to the age of 24 years old.

How does DYW support the Youth Guarantee?

Developing the Young Workforce is a seven-year-programme that aims to better prepare children and young people from 3–18 for the world of work.  This programme builds on the foundations already in place as part of Curriculum for Excellence and aims to reduce youth unemployment by 40% by 2021.
