ProjectScotland helps young people aged 16-30 to get on in life through volunteering, whilst doing good in their community. We place young people into transformational voluntary roles with local charities and not-for-profits. We take the time to understand their needs, interests, and hopes for the future, before matching them to a quality volunteering experience.

WHAT CAN I ACHIEVE?
On top of all the benefits of being a ProjectScotland volunteer (our placements are 20-30 hours a week for 13 weeks), you’ll also get a qualification which shows employers that you’re ready for work. This certificate has been developed in partnership with the business community meaning you’ll get new skills and bucket loads of experience to help secure future employment or further learning.

HOW DOES IT WORK?
It’s a mix of really useful training and ProjectScotland’s volunteering placement – letting you build up the skills employers want to see on your CV. You’ll start with a classroom based training course to help you prepare for the world of work. After that, you’ll be matched to one of ProjectScotland’s volunteering placements – something that ticks your boxes in terms of future job hopes and aspirations. On your placement you’ll get continued feedback and support from a ProjectScotland staff member, and just 190 hours of volunteering time later, the Certificate of Work Readiness will be all yours.

WHAT SUPPORT WILL I GET?
A member of the ProjectScotland team will be your personal champion, right from your first meeting, throughout the training and the placement. They’ll be on hand to provide continuous support and cheer you on. You’ll also have a ProjectScotland mentor who will help you recognise your new skills, confidence and experience, helping you get the job that’s right for you. As an added bonus, our mentors can continue to support you for up to 9 months after your placement finishes.

If you are interested in taking part, or would like to know more/find out if you’re eligible, please contact us at volunteer@projectscotland.co.uk

PROJECTSCOTLAND RESPONSE TO COVID-19

WE WANT TO MAKE IT EASIER THAN EVER TO VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME AND EXPERTISE

We are a lively bunch, so it’s a bit out of character for us to have remained so quiet of late. The truth is we have been working hard to prioritise those for whom we have a duty of care. Namely, our volunteers, charity partners, mentors and of course each other as we adjust to the changes imposed upon our work and our lives following the #COVID19 outbreak.

Our team is busy embracing our new normal. We are continuing our awesome work from home, which means we have more offices, great views, pet colleagues and some of our youngest volunteers ever

This is a challenging time for us all. But please be assured that we are taking you all on this journey with us. We are:

• Developing remote ways of working to continue supporting volunteers

• Preparing our team of incredible mentors to reach even more young people

• Reaching out to our charity partners to find new ways of helping

• Working with funders to continue their support as we make necessary changes to our service

We will also be making it easier than ever to volunteer your time and expertise. So watch this space.

Stay safe. Keep in touch – we are here to help!
