Careers Events
A variety of careers events are on offer across Dumfries and Galloway to support young people in making an informed choice about future pathways.
Increasingly, schools are working together to hold coordinated, area events which encourages a wider range of employers and training providers to attend, tailored to employment opportunities in a given area. Please check the calendar for up and coming events.
Further and higher education fairs and recruitment fairs are also held annually to promote the range of opportunities available in Dumfries and Galloway and beyond. Many schools also continue to hold individual careers events and the DYW regional group are working with schools to encourage employers to participate.

As young people make choices about options in school, ‘Planning Your Future’ conversations take place around preferred occupations and preferred pathways. This information is used to help plan the support young people need to make an informed choice about their future.
Preferred route: employment / training / apprenticeship / further education / higher education / don’t know yet
Preferred sector: choices noted from a list of labour market informed options
This allows post school services, further education and training providers to plan and align their services to the needs of the young people in Dumfries and Galloway.
